A second half Cammy Keith hat-trick helped seal a 4-1 away win for Formartine United over local rivals Turriff United on Saturday.

But the Pitmedden side made hard work of it in the first period going in a goal down. The victory maintains United’s 100% league record after six games and lie in third place in the table.

Formartine started off brightly enough and for the opening ten minutes or so looked the more likely side to score.

But it was Turriff who went in front just before the half-hour mark when McKenna whipped in a low cross from the right and it fell to McGowan, who netted from ten yards out.

The visitors hit back and enjoyed a spell of pressure but it came to nothing.

What a transformation in the second half. Formartine came out with all guns blazing and within five minutes drew level.

Cammy Keith was in the right place to knock home a rebound from a McVitie drive.

On the hour mark it was 2-1 to the visitors when Keith scored from the penalty spot following a foul on Ewen.

Formartine left it late to add to their tally.

With Turriff pressing, Mike Ewen broke clear in a counter-attack in the 88th minute and sent a cracking drive past Coutts.

The home side were still trying to salvage something when Keith grabbed his hat-trick, slippinhg home a rebound with virtually the last kick of the game.
