Summer signing Cammy Keith was the hero when he scored all three goals in Formartine United’s 3-0 win over Lossiemouth at Grant Park on Saturday.
The former Keith player, who also scored in the Ramsdens Cup win over East Stirling last week, made sure the Pitmedden side got their league campaign off to a winning start.
Keith struck twice in a matter of minutes in the first half to set up United’s victory and then put the game beyond doubt 12 minutes from time.
He found the back of the net in the 16th minute and added a second three minutes later from the penalty spot.
Lossiemouth, with the strong wind at their backs, came more into the game in the second half but their hopes of salvaging something vanished when Keith completed his hat-trick from close range near the end.
The hitman earned the praise of Formartine manager Steve Paterson.
Paterson said Keith’s arrival at North Lodge Park seemed to have renewed his hunger for the game and he was the difference between the sides.
Lossie boss Stevie Dunn predicted that with Keith in their team Formartine would be title contenders this season.
Formartine are at home this Saturday with Forres Mechanics the visitors. Kick-off is 3pm.
