FORMARTINE United’s title hopes suffered a setback when they slumped to a surprise 2-1 defeat at Turriff United on Wenesday night.
The Pitmedden side missed out on the chance to top the table, but still have three games in hand on leaders Cove Rangers, who hold a three point advantage.
Formartine dominated the first half which failed to produce a goal.
The visitors went ahead in the in the 63rd minute. The nimble Napier scampered past two defenders to pick up a loose ball about fifteen yards out and had it in the back of the net in a flash.
But they failed to build on their lead and Turriff drew level in the 77th minute through Harris from the penalty spot.
Just when it looked like the match would finish all-square, the home side grabbed the winner when substitute Fraser jinked into the box and rifled the ball into the net.
Formartine are at home to Lossiemouth on Saturday. Kick-off is 2pm.
