Inverurie Loco Works FC held their fifth annual Business Lunch at The Marcliffe Hotel recently and the event was once again hailed as a great success.
The Lunch followed the format of previous years with the keynote speaker Dame Kelly Holmes outlining her journey from Army recruit to Double Olympic Gold Champion.
Inverurie’s own Commonwealth Gold Medallist Hannah Miley aided the proceedings and one of Scotlands top after dinner speakers Eric Davidson had the audience laughing with his own brand of humour.
Event Organiser Graeme Hay commented, “This event is a key fundraiser for the club and we are indebted once again to the businesses who support and sponsor he club.
“Dame Kelly was a favourite with the lunch guests as she tried her best to deal with the “Doric” of our chairman Eddie Innes, and she raised a few laughs with her pronunciation of the names of our co-managers Kenny Coull and Scott Buchan.
“It was also great to have local hero Hannah Miley taking time out of her busy schedule to join us at the lunch and we were pleased to hear that she went on to have a great weekend at the Grand Prix swimming event at the Aberdeen Aquatics centre.
“Raising a laugh was the inimitable Eric Davidson who kept the audience in great spirits with his rhymes and songs and funny stories making for a superb finale.
“Our many auction items helped boost our funds and we already have significant demand for next years event which unfortunately will not be at the Marcliffe given its imminent closure.
“We had over 350 guests and hope to announce the 2015 venue in the next few weeks once details are finalised and we look forward to welcoming back our table sponsors many who have supported us at all five lunches to date.”
