Winning Co Manager Scott Buchan was delighted his side won the game but there is a shock for Locos fans with a club favourite heading for pastures new.
“The boys were fantastic, up for the battle, energetic and enthusiastic. For an end of season last game of the season you can’t ask for any more.
“We asked them before the Formartine game to start again. They were asked to crack on and look towards next season. To beat Formartine and Fraserburgh over ten days away from home in any season is a great feat.
“The pitch was really fiery, very difficult to get the ball down on a beautiful day. It was difficult but we tried as did the Broch players to get the ball down. Sometimes it wasn’t pretty. We wanted to get them turning, get in behind them.
“We scored good goals from our point of view, you work on that sort of thing in training. Good runs, lay offs, cut backs. So it’s pleasing to see it come off”
Is he therefore disappointed to see the season coming to an end. He added, “Yes and no, everybody just loves football, you want to be involved but you want a break. We are about to have a lengthier break than normal . We will focus and re-group, there will be changes to the squad. That’s football
“Neil Gauld was not with us for our final game. He has left the club and is headed for Formartine Utd. There will be changes, we said that in the dressing room. It’s football, it happens and there’s no shock in that
“Time will tell as to how big a loss Neil will be. He is and has been a proven goalscorer, fantastic player, he feels it would be better off for him to be at Formartine at this time of his career. He feels he’ll have more chance of winning things. That’s his reasoning.
“Neil’s a good guy, we get on well. He was free to do what he wanted. He was out of contract, we’ve been trying for ages to keep him. We’d offered him an extremely good contract.
“We’ve competed with Formartine up to this point, no problem. We know what we have in the dressing room. A good bunch of honest players that gets you so far as well. It’s a real pity, a pity for the players and he’s a fans favourite
“We have to move on, we’ve known about it since the game at Formartine. We’ll try to get another striker in, but if we don’t, we know we have good strikers at the club”
