Formartine United put the disappointment of their Ramsdens Cup defeat behind them by reaching the final of the Aberdeenshire Cup.
United ended their Cove Rangers jinx with their first win over the Aberdeen club - a 2-0 success at Allan Park on Wednesday night.
The Pitmedden side opened the scoring in the 15th minute when Stuart Smith’s accurate cross was powerfully headed home by Craig McKeown.
United midfielder Joe Hamill, who suffered a knock, was unable to resume after the interval and was replaced by Paul Napier.
And it was Napier who netted the second with the half only minutes old. He picked up the ball from Smith, cut inside and sent a superb shot past Sim into the top right corner.
Cove battled hard to get back into the semi-final but Formartine gave nothing away and could have added to their lead.
Near the end, Cove’s Bain was sent off for a scything tackle on Clark.
Formartine will now meet local rivals Inverurie Locos in the final on Saturday, October 19.
