United keep up title push

FORMARTINE United maintained their strong title challenge with a convincing 5-0 win over struggling Rothes at North Lodge Park on Wednesday night.

Two goals from Paul Napier and others from Callum Bagshaw, Michael Ewen and Callum Dingwall leaves United six points behind league leaders Cove Rangers, but they have five games in hand.

Rothes were no match for Formartine and found themselves four down at the interval. The home side’s fifth came two minutes from time.

The Pitmedden side are now firm title favourites with the bulk of their remaining fixtures at home. United’s final four games are at North Lodge Park with their last away fixture against championship rivals Clachnacuddin on Wednesday, May 1.
