United’s cup exit

Formartine United crashed out of the Aberdeenshire Shield, losing 3-0 in their quarter-final tie at Huntly on Wednesday night.

The Pitmedden side seemed to be going through the motions, expecting a win to arrive without too much extertion.

But they were floored by three second half goals from Huntly, who will now be away to either Inverurie Locos or Peterhead.

Formartine ended up with nine players after substitutes Christopher Donnelly and Richard Davidson, who had only been on for a few minutes, were red-carded.

In the night’s other tie, Turriff United defeated Fraserburgh 4-3 on penalties. The sides stood at 3-3 after extra time.
