Formartine United kept up the pressure on the league leaders with a late winner at Keith.

United looked down and out when they went two behind just after the interval but three goals in the last 20 minutes, including a Neil Gauld strike right at the end sealed the points.

It leaves the Pitmedden side a point behind second placed Cove Rangers and four behind front-runners Brora, both with a game in hand on the Cattachs.

But North Lodge fans must have been in despair as their favourites trailed by a goal at half-time and then lost another just after the interval.

United were aiming to bounce back from their League Cup defeat by Brora Rangers on penalties last weekend.

But mid-table Keith had other ideas and took the lead through Fraser in the third minute.

And things got worse for visitors when Barbour added a second a minute into the second half.

However, Formartine pulled one back in the 71st minute when in-form Garry Wood found the target.

Two minutes later they were level through Neil Gauld.

Just when it looked as though it would be a share of the points Gauld struck a priceless winner in the 90th minute.

Meanwhile, United’s title rivals Brora and Cove were battling it out im the semi-final of the League Cup.

The Sutherland side went through with another win on penalties after the teams stood at 2-2 after extra time.

They will meet Nairn County, who defeated Turriff United 2-0, in the final.
