Paterson brings in new assistant

FORMARTINE United manager Steve Paterson has recruited a new assistant.

Ellon United boss Craig Stewart makes the switch from the junior ranks as a replacement for released central defender Bobby Mann at North Lodge Park.

Stewart, 36, took over at Ellon last June but says he always intended to return to the Highland League.

The former Deveronvale, Elgin City and Buckie Thistle striker scored a memorable goal when the Jags defeated Hamilton Accies in January, 2001, to set up a Scottish Cup third round visit to Ross County.

Paterson said Mann had done a good job for him last season, but is based in Dundee and wants to keep playing next season.

Formartine ended the campaign with a flourish but Paterson has moved quickly to strengthen his squad, completing a hat-trick of signings with the arrival on Monday of former Cove Rangers winger Kevin Webster. Other additions are Buckie Thistle defender Hamish Munro and Keith keeper Andy Shearer.
