ABERDEENSHIRE’S second biggest sports centre will open its doors to the public on Sunday when the seven member clubs will take the opportunity to recruit young and even older people to their ranks.
Members of the public will have the chance to participate in athletics, football, hockey, rugby, squash, though the main aim of the day will be to promote the newly refurbished gym at the 20 year old facility.
The what’s new list at the centre include a fully equipped brand new gym, an exciting range of fitness - classes, and a range of activities for all ages and abilities.
‘’Sunday’s event presents the opportunity for the public to see just exactly what goes on at the Meadows. We are particularly keen to promote the new gym with its brand new equipment,’’ said Jack Nixon the chairman of the Trust committee.
‘’Members of the public can also take advantage of our 10% offer for the gym for six months or a year if they turn up between 1pm and 4pm. It’s a superb deal,’’ said Michelle Rothney one of the co - managers of the centre.
Children are welcome at the event and can not only join clubs, but enjoy the bouncy castles on the day.
A range of snacks will be on offer for purchase.
The following Sunday (August 7) the new gym will be officially opened when a number of leading sports people will be present.
‘’At this stage our principal guest has yet to confirm their presence, but it’s a well known face in North - east sporting circles,’’ said Mr Nixon who urged the community in the Ellon area to come along a see what’s new at the Meadows.
