Grappling action returns to Ellon this Saturday (June 27) with an action-packed pro-wrestling bill.

The WrestleZone event takes place at the Victoria Hall with the main bout featuring new undisputed champion Scotty Swift defending his title against Fife’s Johnny Lions.

I will need to be at my best for this match

It will be the “Red-Haired Warrior’s” first defence since winning the belt in front of 1,312 fans at the Beach Ballroom last month – and the Aberdeen favourite can’t wait to get back in action.

Scotty said: “Winning this championship was the culmination of seven years of hard work, guts and determination.

“To do it in front of my hometown fans was special and a moment that I’ll never forgot. But there is no time for sentiment as the challengers are already lining up to take the title away from me.

“Johnny Lions has a lot of experience in the wrestling ring, having held the undisputed championship twice before. I know that this will be a tough bout but they aren’t going to get any easier.

“I am ready to defend this title and determined to hold onto this honour for a long time to come.”

Scotty is one of the most popular faces of Aberdeen-based group WrestleZone, who host pro-wrestling bouts across the North-east.

He has an impressive record in events held at the Victoria Hall and the new champion is determined to continue his momentum on Saturday.

Scotty added: “Being the champion puts a target on my back but I am ready for all challengers.

“My record in Ellon is pretty good but I’ve had a lot of luck along the way. The fans who come and support us always give us a great backing, and I’m looking forward to more of the same.

“I will need to be at my best for this match with Johnny Lions and I hope to give the fans a great night en route to retaining the undisputed championship.”

There will also be a defence of the tag team championships as the Hotshots face the Dogs of War, while Kaden Garrick, Crusher Craib and Mr P will all be in action.

Entry to the event is pay-at-the-door only, priced £12 for adults and £8 for under 14s.

Doors open at 7pm with the action getting underway from 7.30pm. More information is available by calling 07855 121777 or visiting www.wrestlezonescotland.co.uk
