Club records smashed at Inverness meet

Club records were smashed at the North District Age Group Meet in Inverness, as Garioch’s 10-14 year old swimmers enjoyed yet more successes this year.

Anya Slessor was especially impressive, breaking eight club records, including Hannah Miley’s 14 year old 100 fly record by seven seconds.

Already ranked number one in Britain for 50 free, Anya has achieved amazing results this season and is a terrific prospect.

Nicole Ogg, too, showed what a great talent she is in the sprint freestyle discipline by breaking two club records for 11 year old girls: 50 and 100 free, the latter which belonged to Hannah Miley and which had stood since 2001.

This swim also enabled her to take bronze on the day.

Daniel McKenzie again showed tremendous prowess in the fly by breaking two records: his own 50M fly record to take the silver medal, as well as the 100M fly where he took gold.

Not content with these successes, Daniel achieved bronze in the 50 back.

Well done to all these swimmers.

Austeja Ernuite was also in great form. In the girls 13-14 category, she took a brilliant gold in 400 free, and three bronze medals in 200IM, 50 back and 50 free.

There were other excellent swims and a whole host of PBs from Finley Cousins who managed five top 10 finishes, Cameron Crawford, Caitlin Dick, Max Hitchcox, Isla Johnston, Heather McIntosh, Phelim McNally, Gemma Ogg, Nichloas Nightingale, Hannah Strachan and Bill Whitcombe. Cameron, Max, Isla, Heather and Phelim all made PBs in each of their races.

There was great poolside help from Tracy Ogg, Gail Dick and Jane McIntosh: many thanks to them for all their hard work and enthusiasm. Many parents, too, did their bit by helping out in officiating roles.
