Ellon Gordon and Methlick both enjoyed solid wins at the expense of fellow strugglers, taking the two clubs to near certain safety in Grade 1.
In a season of generally high scores the local teams were involved in two low-scoring matches with Ellon easing through by 17 runs after being bowled out for 138 by St Ronald who were dismissed for 121 when it was was the Aberdeen side’s turn to bat.
Captain Scott White made a major, telling contribution of 41, while Ross Wade was in fine form with the ball, claiming three wickets for 28.
At Lairds it was a similar story with the home side also batting first, and totalling 155 before going on end Stonehaven’s winning run,bowling the visitors all out for a meagre 49.
Veteran bowler Colin Addison was among the wickets, capturing three for 11 as Stonehaven slumped back to the bottom of the league.
Ellon seconds, far from continuing its batting heroics of last week in which captain Chris Watson excelled with a career best of 159, were bowled out for 51 with only Scott Middleton and Andy Parks reaching double figures.
Despite a valiant bowling effort from skipper Watson who claimed two Dunecht wickets for 15 the home side cruised home with seven wickets to spare.
Bon Accord remain on track to win the Grade 1 title, but were pushed all the way by Mannofield in a highly-entertaining draw.
