A finals Day was held at Ellon Bowling Club earlier this month with the finals of the Fraser Pairs, Gent’s Pairs and Ladies Senior Singles taking place.
Mary Legge and Phil Anderson recovered from 9-3 down in the Fraser Pairs to win 20-11 against Les Milne and Bob Sangster.
In the Ladies Senior singles Maureen Sinclair trailed the jack on the last end for a count of 3 to take a 21-20 win against Kathleen Gordon.
In the men’s pairs Mike Stephen and Bob Thomson came out on top in the closest of encounters with Mike Gibson and Allan Giles. On the last end Mike Stephen trailed the jack for two shots to take the match into an extra end. On the extra end with the shots against him Stephen then lifted out the lying shot with his last wood of the match to take the title. It is the tenth time that Mike Stephen has won the gent’s pairs.
Earlier the Ellon Senior Pairs was won by Doug Hadden and Jim Elrick. They were 4-0 down after two ends however they recovered to win 14-9.
The club triples was won by Morag McPherson, Mary Legge and Alistair Campbell. They defeated Bill Christie Snr, Albert Low and Mike Gibson 14-11 in the final. The ladies two bowl pairs final was a close affair with Maureen Sinclair and Ann Singer coming out on top 19-15 against Ellen Bartlet and Kathleen Gordon.
Elsewhere the final Pitmedden Singles Final was a family affair with son Steven Fraser beating his dad Ian 21-20.
