Ellon Rugby were denied a possible win at the weekend when their Caley 2 North game at the Meadows against Shetland was one of the many fixtures which fell victim to the persistent rain, writes Jack Nixon.
Gareth Kemp, the club’s director of rugby, said: “We had targeted this one as a game to win, making the postponement hard to take, but we’ll have other opportunities, especially as we have our under 18’s free to play.”
Weather permitting Ellon will head for Kinloss at the weekend where they will take on Kinloss Eagles a team they have already beaten on league business at the Meadows, but are sure to find their opponents a different proposition on their own ground.
Currently Ellon lie second bottom in Caley 2 North, a place above Stornoway, and within touching distance of Shetland one point above the relegation places, giving Kemp hope that his team will survive.
He insisted: “I still believe we will end up in mid-table, and certainly won’t be going down.”
