Garioch swimmers display

REN96 were hosts at Garioch’s most recent competition in the brand new and very impressive ON-X Sports Centre in Linwood on November 9 and 10.

Despite being in the middle of a hectic and demanding spell of meets, Garioch swimmers were in great form, showing high levels of energy and considerable competitive determination. For the boys, Findlay Douglas was in brilliant form winning three golds in the 100 back, 200 back and 400 IM, three silvers in the 200 breast, 400 free and 200 IM and three bronzes in the 100 breast, 100 free and 200 free.

For the girls, Shannon Crawford, Austeja Ernuite and Christy Johnston were all very impressive, winning 12 medals between them. Shannon had a particularly demanding schedule, competing in five finals, but came away with excellent golds in 100 back, 200 back and 400 IM, silver in 200 IM and bronze in 50 free. Austeja continued her good form from the previous week’s distance events by winning gold in 100 back and 400 IM, and silver in 100 breast. Christy was dominant in the breaststroke events, winning gold in the 200 and bronze in the 100 as well as excellent bronze medals in the 200 IM and 400 IM. Continued progress was demonstrated by all the boys, with Cameron Crawford, Peter Holmes, Daniel McKenzie, Phelim and Daniel McNally all performing very creditably and all taking time off a range of swims. For the girls, too, Avery Collins, Hazel Johnston and Heather McIntosh all swam well, competing hard in every race and contributing greatly to the team effort.

Thanks are due to coaches Garry Holmes and Sam Hull-Bailey for managing the team so well over the two days and to all the parents for officiating.
