Half marathon runners set off in last year's Run Garioch event in slippery conditions.

The Garioch Sports Centre’s popular ‘10 Weeks to Run Garioch’ training programme will open for entries at the registration evening on Thursday, December 5, starting at 7pm.

Now in its third year, the programme will prepare runners of all abilities for the Ferguson Group 5K, Dandara 10K and Accord Energy Half Marathon on March 23.

To ensure high levels of support for all runners, places will be further limited this year. Only 20 will be available on the ‘absolute beginner’ 5k programme and 25 on the Half Marathon programme, aimed at runners who have completed at least one 10k. Places on the intermediate 5k/10k will be limited to 100.

In addition to just over 10 weeks of training, runners will also be able to attend two specialist running clinics as part of the programme, at no extra charge.

The clinics will address all running related issues, including motivation, the importance of speed training and nutrition and will be held during week two and eight of the programme.

Applications will be taken at the registration night at the Garioch Sports Centre, and afterwards, until all places are sold. Contact the centreon 01467 626141 for more information.

Entries for Run Garioch on Sunday, March 23, are now open on www.rungarioch.co.uk, and are expected to close by the end of February.
