The Lochter Summer Series £1000 final, sponsored by E M Diagnostics, is due on October 6 but anglers have one last opportunity to qualify this Sunday, September 1.
The first four anglers in the heat will go through and with many of the top fishers already qualified there is never a better opportunity for others to join them in the final. Registration is scheduled for 8.45-9am with cast off due at 9.30.
The past week has seen a variety of methods working as the weather changed from dry to wet to windy to warm. Evenings saw big rises of fish exploding on the surface while during the day they were much more circumspect sipping tiny flies off the surface.
John Parsons had a good start to the week with eight on a green lure, Ron Wilson, from Alford, grassed seven on bibios and a Kate Mclaren.
E Robertson had nine on montanas, S Young eleven using various flies, Mike Brown eight using klinkhammers and W Milligan, from Kirriemuir, ten all on buzzers.
On Saturday afternoon the heavens opened but it fairly got the fish feeding. Ernie Mackay Snr tempted ten in the tempest and A Ewart kept three and returned twelve on buzzers. On sunny Sunday, that stalwart band of men, the Haddo Anglers, graced the banks of the Muckle Troot for their latest outing and had twenty one between them using a mix of lures and nymphs, while on the Heron loch Steve Corsar used dry flies to land fourteen nice fish.
Finally, controllers are required for the International Bank Fishing final on October 23 to measure and record fish catches and generally oversee the competition alongside the SANA representatives.
This is an excellent and interesting opportunity for anglers to be involved in the country’s biggest bank fishing event. Contact the fishery on 01651 872787 or 872000 to volunteer or for more information.
