Meldrum Golf Club honour for national champions

Meldrum House Golf Club has made two national champions honorary members.

Barry Brooks won the Scottish Seniors Stroke-play Championship at Blairgowrie in June and Chris Robb won the Fairstone Scottish amateur championship at Downfield last week.

Club captain Willie McPherson said: “It really is a remarkable feat for Meldrum House Golf Club, less than 20 years old, to have the Scottish seniors champion and the Scottish amateur champion as members.

“All our members are proud of them. Barry and Chris’s performances have given the club such a lift.”

Chris said: “I was very surprised and delighted to be given an honorary membership. I’ve always loved Meldrum House and love playing and practising there so will definitely plan on continuing that when I turne pro. The facilities are amazing!”

Barry, who was Aberdeen Links champion in 1992, added: “I was absolutely speechless at being given such an honour from the golf club and look forward to representing Meldrum House Golf Club for many years to come.”
