The sun was shining down as Rounds 5 and 6 of the Aberdeen and District Motocross Club championship race got underway at Mains of Lesmoir, Rhynie.

From six-year-old riders on small automatic bikes right up to the veterans, the event which was held on October 5 and 6 and welcomed riders of all ages and talents.

Organisers said that “the racing went well, weather was perfect, and there were above average entries,” over the weekend which marked the final rounds of the club championship.

One organiser continued: “Unfortunately we had a couple accidents, Simon Smith from Rothienorman #111 (Veteran class) lost control on a tabletop jump and damaged his knee pretty badly.

“Another rider, Jimmy Peters from Tarves #35 (Clubman class) crashed in practice.

“Barely able to walk, he continued and raced all three races

“He went to hospital on the way home to discover his ankle was actually broken!

“It’s amazing what adrenalin does!”
