There was disappointment at the weekend when the Pitmedden Texas Scramble Triples finals was washed out due to the poor weather, writes Phil Anderson.

The finals were scheduled for Sunday and organisers are hoping to arrange a new date in the coming weeks.

There was also disappointment for Pitmedden when they lost 5-3 to Kintore in the first round of the A&K Bowling Association Top 10 competition.

Holders Tarves made a strong start to retaining the Top 10 with an 8-0 win against Methlick. Rothienorman defeated Kemnay by the same scoreline.

The closest tie of the round was between Stonehaven and Kincardine O’Neil. With the scores tied at 4-4 it was Kincardine O’Neil that made it through on shots.

In the Buchan Bowling Association Top 10 Ellon went out by five shots to New Pitsligo at the quarter-final stage.

This year’s Andrew Hamilton Cities & Counties championship is shaping up for an exciting finish.

At the weekend, Northern Counties won 112-106 at Angus and Bon Accord beat Buchan 134-100 at Woodend.

Aberdeen & Kincardine defeated Dundee at Harlaw by 29 shots and Highland romped to a 61-shot victory against Perthshire.

After four matches Highland, Northern Counties and Bon Accord lead the section on six points each closely followed by Angus and A&K who both have four points.

This weekend sees Buchan play Angus at Ellon with the match starting at 2pm.
