Successful season at Ellon Bowling Club

The outdoor bowling season came to an end on a high at Ellon Bowling Club with the last remaining finals of the season taking place.

Mike Stephen won the Mixed Handicap Singles and Allan Giles took home The gents senior singles.

The JP Lawrence Memorial Trophy was won by Morag McPherson and Ellen Bartlet, while Tessa Donaghey and Ann Singer were the runner ups. The Floodlite Pairs went to Doug Hadden and Bob Thomson, It has been an extremely successful centenary season for the club. The men won the Buchan Bowling Association top 10 for the third year in a row and will now face Bonnyrigg (Midlothian) in the first round of the national competition next season. Both the men and women’s teams won this season’s Cromallie Cup. The women won the Craigie Ladies league as well as the men who finished as the runners up in the Buchan League. Ellon Ladies won district titles in 5 out of the 6 disciplines to qualify for the national finals in Ayr.

President Leslie Milne said: “It has been one of the most successful seasons in the clubs history and it has been an honour to be president in the centenary year. Hopefully we can build on this success next season.”
