Strong Ythan team in Fife

Lochore Meadows in Fife was the location for Round 4 of the Raleigh Scottish Cyclo Cross Series and Ythan’s usual competitors headed south, writes Malcolm Grant.

Once again the standout performance of the day from an Ythan member belonged to Callum Cooper who claimed the U14 victory and in the process secured third place overall in the U16 category.

Fraser Gault finished sixth in the U14 race/15th U16 and Cameron Brown rode to 16th U14/34th U16.

In the U14 race Elliot Rowe finished 14th from a field of 61 with Anna Brown completing the race in 58th overall and 16th girl.

In the U8 race Elliot’s younger sister Melanie finished sixth overall and second girl to round off a solid day’s work for the Ythan youth contingent.

In the Vet 50+ Mike Giles placed 35th while the Vet 40-49 event saw Kevin Gault overcome mechanical difficulties to finish 32nd.

The senior race was won by top Scottish rider David Lines (Velosure Starley Primal) with Ythan’s Russ Craig and Andy Scouller finishing in 28th and 36th respectively.
