Ythan Cycling Club were once again well represented at the latest round of the Ridley Scottish Cyclo Cross Series at Lochore.
The blue skies that greeted the large field of entrants belied the underfoot conditions which were to play a major part in the fortunes of the Ellon contingent.
In the U8 race Melanie Rowe placed 12th whilst in the U12 race there was a stunning performance from Fraser Gault who took 3rd having spent a lot of the race challenging with the leaders.
In the same race Elliot Rowe was 22nd with Daniel Kain finishing 24th.
The senior race saw the first impact of the muddy conditions as Russell Craig suffered a major mechanical failure to his bikes gearing due to the build up of mud and the same fate was to befall Kevin Gault and Bill Bavidge in the veterans race.
The three riders had to abandon their respective races but there was an Ythan finisher in the veterans race as Malcolm Cooper finished 31st.
In the U14 race Callum Cooper battled through the mud to secure a brilliant 2nd place, further evidence that he is one of the most talented young cyclo cross riders in Scotland and one to watch over the next few years.
