Ellon United 5- Maud 3

UNITED’s heated game against Maud on Tuesday evening saw the local team get their Super League campaign off to a flying start. The play was forced from one end to the other, with Maud establishing an early dominance, which was only later cancelled out by hard work on the part of United, who started to pass the ball more convincingly before the end of the first half. The second half started with Ellon once again dominant, In what wasn’t a particularly bad tempered match, Murray Reid and Keith Walker were send off for what should really have been a bookable offence.

First half goals from Greg Simpson and Keith Walker cancelled out a penalty strike from Nicho Marchi and a header from Ewen Clark, which had given Maud their early two goal lead in their leaugue match against Ellon united at The Meadows on Tuesday night.

United went ahead after the break through Lenny Johnson, only to be pegged back by a Ritchie Ligertwood free kick. Michael McTavish restored United’s lead before Lenny Johnson notched his second goal to give the home side the points, with a 5-3 win.
