Ythan Amateur Swimming Club Gala

Ythan Amateur swimming club held its annual Gala recently at the Ellon Swimming Pool which was attended by Clubs from all over Northern Scotland. As with previous years the standard of swimming was very high and the improvements in the times of the Club swimmers was outstanding. Each year the Club Sponsors, The Ellon and District Round Table, award their shields for the best performance of a local Boy and Girl. This year’s winners were Eilidh Pirie and Nicholas Burgess,

Chairman Mark Westmacott told the Times: “On behalf of the Club and the swimmers, I would like to thank the Committee members, Volunteer Parent Helpers and Technical officials who gave up their Saturday to make this another event the club can be proud of.”

Gold: Tom Merry - Boys Open 100m IM; Tom Merry - Boys 12-13 100m Butterfly; Nicholas Burgess - Boys 14+ 100m Backstroke.

Silver: Milly Merry - Girls 8-11 100m Backstroke; Chloe Harrison - Girls 12-13 100m Butterfly; Nicholas Burgess - Boys 14+ 100m Freestyle; Louise Milne - Girls 14+ 100m Breaststroke.

Bronze: Chelsea Senior - Girls 8-11 100m Backstroke; Euan Pirie - Boys 12-13 100m Backstroke; Calum Smith - Boys 14+ 100m Backstroke; Luke Thorley - Boys 14+ 100m Breaststroke.

Nicholas Burgess received a Special Award for exceeding Medal cut off time in the Open 100m Individual Medley.
