Ythan CC are preparing to host the next round of the Scottish Youth Cycle Race Series when the Ellon town centre races take place this Sunday.
The races, well established in the local calendar as the forerunner to the Pedal Car races, are held on closed roads in Ellon.
For the under 8s and under 10s, any bike can be used but a road racing bike is recommended for the older age categories.
Club chairman Colin Allanach said: “We have had some very successful and thrilling races over the years that we have been running this event.
“Some of the youths racing this year are the ones who will shortly be pushing for places in future Scottish teams and looking towards the next Commonwealth Games in Australia as well as future Olympics.
“There are not many opportunities for youth cycle racing in this area, outwith the two events that Ythan promote at Alford in May and Ellon in August, so we are delighted that Aberdeenshire Council, Ellon Rotary and the local businesses are all helping out to make this national series event a success again this year.”
Racing will start at around 10am and entry details can be obtained by emailing Colin at firstname.lastname@example.org
