ELLON Academy’s Christmas concert was once again well supported on Tuesday and Wednesday of last week.

The popular event, called Music for Christmas 2012, has been staged annually for nearly 40 years and was held in the assembly hall in the old school building.

David Birse, the academy’s principal teacher of music, said it gave the bands, orchestra, choir and individual groups the opportunity to perform in front of family and friends and relatives.

He added: “The concert is nearly 40 years old now, which is quite remarkable.

“It was very well supported over the two nights.”

Proceeds from the festive event will go towards local charities.
