COAST festival of the arts is gearing up for this year’s event, which takes place in Banff and Macduff from May 22 to 24.

There will be a programme of visual art, music, workshops and participatory events, many of which are family friendly.

The programme features the work of international, national, and locally acclaimed artists in a wide range of venues including Duff House, Banff Castle, Macduff Town Hall and Tarlair.

2015 is the International Year of Light, light in this area has long been an inspiration for artists, and this year COAST will feature a range of events that various aspects on the theme of light.

The festival will feature the internationally acclaimed glass artist Keiko Mukaido, whose work will be exhibited in Duff House. Mukaidos exhibits will relate to the installation ‘Light of the North’ as shown at Tate St Ives in 2006.

Duff House will also be host to glass artist Clair Wilson whose work is inspired by glass blowing techniques, the artist interlaces different glass processes to create her work.

Banff Castle will once again host a variety of artists including Aminder Virdee exhibiting work designed to shed light on misconceptions surrounding disability.

Macduff Town Hall will host “Lighted Rooms” This year the main hall will be divided into six rooms for six separate shows, all with a theme that relates to light.
