The two Haddo Voices choirs who rehearse in Ellon arev starting back for the spring term.

They are on the look-out for new members to come along and try out one of the choirs - before making any commitment - and are assured of a warm welcome without audition.

Musical director Alice Dennis and Louise McGregor take rehearsals on a Tuesday from 7.15-8pm (for girls and boys aged P6-S6) at Ellon Parish Church, and on a Wednesday from 6.15-7pm (for P1-5 age group) at the Kirk Centre.

There are rehearsals every week, except for half term and Easter break, and at the end the choirs will perform at a small, informal concert at Ellon Parish Church on May 30.

Once singers have decided to join up, the fee is £20 with discounts for siblings.

Alice told the Times: “The choirs welcome singers of all abilities and cater for children with needs, as well as aspiring soloists and those doing music exams.

“Singers will get the chance to sing a solo or perform on their other instruments at the concert and can even have some free private singing lessons in the run-up to performing.

“Present members are enthusiastic and friendly and are loving the choirs.”

Interested youngsters should simply turn up at the next rehearsal, where they will be welcomed by staff and young singers alike.
