THE National Trust for Scotland’s Haddo House is renowned for its musical events, and this weekend the sound of barbershop a cappella will resound around the Peatyards. The ladies of the City of Roses Chorus, based in Drumoak, will be providing a daytime concert on Sunday at 2.30pm with music that ranges from the charts to show tunes.
Formed in the mid nineties, the chorus is made up of around thirty members of all ages who just love the sound of barbershop. The group is a member of Sweet Adelines International, the body that promotes this style of music with its four-part harmonies, and is regularly involved in major competitions. Their repertoire covers all kinds of music, translated to the acappella style, so they appeal to all ages.
Adult tickets are £5 and are available at the Haddo shop, by calling 0844 493 2179 or at www.nts.org.uk
