HADDO Children’s Theatre will present The Wind in the Willows at Haddo House Hall from Thursday, March 14, to Sunday, March 17.
The children’s theatre is a voluntary group lead by Julie Hutton. Julie is an experienced drama teacher and director who first became involved in Haddo when her own children were cast members.
The cast range in age from 8 to 16 and Julie is assisted in directing the show by Brian Cameron who joined the group this year. Brian is also an experienced director who has also donated his time and effort to the group.
Rob Fryer became involved in Haddo Children’s Theatre when his son joined and after a few years helping out he has become much more involved as the Musical Director.
This year there are 54 children on stage as well as a car, a boat and a river.
The youngsters are enjoying the storyline of The Wind in the Willows. The show is a new version of a favourite children’s story featuring the much-loved animal characters.
There will be no people on stage - all are animals so it will be challenging for the parents’ costume-making, as well as for set and props.
The shows will be on Thursday and Friday at 7pm, and on Saturday and Sunday at 2.30pm.
Tickets are priced £6 for adults, with children, OAPs and concessions £4. They are available from Watsons of Inverurie, J&K Shoes, Ellon, Udny Post Office, Duthie of Tarves, Haddo NTS Shop, Denise Wechsler (07786 243676 after 5pm), Formartine’s and cast members.
Meanwhile, any children (aged 8 to 16) interested in joining the group can be added to the waiting list by contacting Gillian Archibald on 01358 721119.
