An Ellon teenager is all set for a trip to London which he hopes will boost his aspirations for an acting career.

Liam Christie has raised around £1500 to pay for the course later this summer - the final fundraising event, a Scottish night, was held in Ellon.

The Ellon Academy pupil will join Terry Pratchett’s Soul Music, which is a musical theatre course being held during August.

Liam, along with family members, has organised several fundraisers over the last few months and has received donations towards the cost of the trip.

Mum Shirley told the Times: “We raised just over £700 from the Scottish night. We had around 70-80 people there and everyone enjoyed themselves.

“We’d like to thank everyone who donated raffle prizes - we had 49 which was brilliant.

“We are delighted to have reached the target. Liam has done really well in raising the money and local people have been so supportive.”

Liam’s course will be at the Wilde Theatre from August 12-25.

He auditioned a couple of years ago for the London course but nothing came of it and he left it for a year. However, this year he was accepted and hopes it will lead to the acting big-time.
