‘Horror’ play at Haddo House

Haddo House is the setting for some terrifying drama later this month when it welcomes Isosceles Productions with their play Yours Truly, Jack the Ripper.

The play on May 18 looks at the case of the brutal murders of five women in 1888 through the eyes of the Commissioner of the Metropolitan Police. As he resigns on the last day of the last murder he recounts the terrible weeks when East London was under a reign of fear and the world held its breath.

Writer, Patrick Prior brings the true and terrible facts of the infamous murders to life by using all the actual words of the witnesses in the case while underscoring it with period music.

T Pat Abernethy, who plays Inspector Warren said: “We have been doing this play on and off for about twelve years alongside the many other shows that we perform. It is a subject that still seems to attract a great deal of interest from audiences of all ages.”

Tickets cost £12 for adults and £8 for children and concessions. They can be booked by visiting http://www.nts.org.uk/Events/Ticket-Date/2731/ or by phoning 0844 493 2179, and are also available from Haddo’s NTS shop. Yours Truly, Jack the Ripper is on between 7.30 and 9.30pm.
