Tickets are going fast for the Haddo House Choral & Operatic Society carol concerts starting this Saturday.
Already the two concerts on Sunday, December 15, are sold out but there are still tickets available for Saturday’s performances.
The concerts are held in Haddo House chapel and for many people Christmas gets under way after hearing the voices of the Haddo choirs echo round the building singing favourite carols, some of which the audience are invited to sing along with.
There will also be the perennial favourites for choir, such as Darke’s arrangement of ‘In the Bleak Mid-winter’ and the French Carol ‘Voici Noel’, which has been performed annually at Haddo for nearly 70 years by the young singers of the Voices Carol Ensemble.
The varied programme will feature the 55-strong adult choir, 13 hand-picked young singers of the Haddo Voices Ensemble (aged 7-15) and Dr Roger Williams MBE on organ, all conducted by HHCOS musical director Alice Dennis.
There is also another concert of festive songs at Haddo House in the Peatyards, on Sunday (December 8) when the young section of HHCOS, the Haddo Voices, will host a short concert of choir and solo songs. The concert is at 5pm and admission is free with no ticketing.
Saturday’s concerts are at 5pm and 7pm. Tickets priced £15 are available online from www.hhcos.org.uk (no booking fees) or by calling 01651 851111.
