The Ythan Fiddlers are holding a fundraising Scottish concert evening in Ellon’s Victoria Hall later this month.

It will take place on Friday, November 22, from 7.30-11pm.

They are travelling to Nova Scotia and Cape Breton in Canada in July next year and are hoping to help finance part of the cost of the trip for the six young fiddlers who are taking part.

There is an impressive line-up of entertainers for the concert night.

Spokesman Jim Stott said: “Mo Rutherford, a fantastic player and accompanist on the piano, will be letting us hear her wonderful playing and will be accompanying her husband Neil Copland on the accordion.

“There are talented local performers. George Davidson, current Kirriemuir fiddle champion, and his brother Stuart will be playing.

“Gregor Allan, from Tarves, is entertaining us with his accordion and Bill Gray, from Peterhead, will be singing.

“Members of the Rosaline Hendry Highland Dancing School, from Ellon, and RSCDS Scottish Country Dancers, from Aberdeen, will be performing and the Ythan Fiddlers will be playing some selections.”

The evening will be compered by Gary Coull, from Keith.

Concert-goers are being asked to bring along their own food and refreshments. A raffle will be held midway through the evening.

Tickets are £10 for adults, £6 for senior citizens and children, and £20 for a family.
