Councillor opens new Pitmedden pub
A beer-loving councillor has opened a new pub in Pitmedden.
Paul Johnston, who represents Mid-Formartine ward, runs The Craft - formerly the Pitmedden Bar.
It specialises in cask and other craft made beers, as well as handcrafted wines and spirits.
Greg Mullholland, a former MP and chairman of the British Pub Confederation performed the opening.
He was an active campaigner for Save the Pub, an all-party parliamentary group which aims to preserve and protect the traditional pub.
Mr Johnston, leader of the council’s Democratic Independent and Green Group, has been a councillor since 1995 and campaigner for rural pubs and good real beer since 1979.
His bar is also trying to use recycled furnishings, as part of its environmental credentials.
