Dentists acquire Ellon surgery
An Ellon dental surgery has been acquired by two dentists, after securing a funding package of more than £700,000 from the Bank of Scotland.
Schoolhill Dental Practice in Ellon was bought in December by Alistair Scott and Euan MacDonald, after founder Dr David Ovenstone retired.
Alistair, who has worked at the practice since 2011, and his partner Euan now plan to expand the range of procedures and treatments on offer at the surgery, including private orthodontics, invisible braces and implants.
A new dentist is also set to join the practice to help deliver the new treatments.
Schoolhill Dental Practice opened in 1984.
It currently employs three dentists and 10 nurses who provide care to more than 9,000 patients across the north east.
Alistair said: “Euan and I have worked in the industry for a number of years and we’re increasingly seeing people ask for cosmetic treatments to improve their smile.
“Acquiring the practice will enable us to meet this upturn in demand, while continuing to offer the highest level of care to our patients.
“Buying a business is completely new territory for Euan and I, so the support provided throughout the process from the relationship team at the Bank of Scotland has been invaluable.”
Stew Denholm of the Bank Scotland, said: “The funding we’ve provided will enable Schoolhill Dental Practice to remain completely independent, as well as allowing it to expand its range of services so it can effectively compete with larger firms.”
