Ellon dental surgery opens after renovation and expansion work
The Ythan Bridge Dental Centre in Ellon was officially opened at the weekend following its two week closure for renovation and expansion.
MP for Gordon, Colin Clark, cut the ribbon on Saturday, August 26 to declare the practice was open for business once again.
The completed work has rejuvenated the long-established practice located in the centre of town beside the River Ythan bridge which gives the practice its name.
The former, cosy two-surgery practice which suffered some flood damage when the Ythan burst its banks some time ago has now been dramatically transformed.
The surgery is now a spacious and impressive four-surgery practice with an abundance of natural light flooding through the roof lights that have been built into its sedum roof and space for two additional surgeries in future if ever required.
The practice is now all on one level - far above any potential flood damage in future.
Two newly recruited dentists, young married couple Jamal and Zena, have joined the practice team and are keen to commence work in early September alongside the practice’s existing dentists Assem and Benjamin.
The practice will also benefit from the services of a hygienist who will join the team in early 2018.
After an introduction from the practice owner and principal dental surgeon, Dr J Mark Donaldson, Colin Clark MP offered some congratulatory words and cut the ribbon allowing waiting members of the public to begin a tour of the new premises whilst enjoying some light refreshments.
The practice is accepting and welcoming new NHS patients, with many who attended the opening event taking advantage of the opportunity to make an appointment for themselves and their families and so secure a place for themselves on the practice list.
Many more places remain available and the practice is delighted to extend an open invitation to any who wish to register there.
Speaking at the opening event Dr Donaldson remarked: “I am delighted with the final result of these renovations and believe that my practice is now very well placed to continue delivering high quality, modern dental care into the future.
“We remain absolutely committed to doing all in our power to provide the best care we can offer.”
He further commented: “I am indebted to my assistant practice group manager, Gemma Mutch, who has done an excellent job in coordinating every aspect of the extension.”
He continued: “Plans are already underway for a similarly extensive renovation to be completed in 2018 at the Queen Street Dental Centre in Peterhead, with larger premises already purchased next door to our existing practice, and I look forward to completing a similar transformation there for the benefit of our Peterhead patients.”
The opening hours of the practice are Monday to Thursday 8.30am to 5.45pm and Friday 8.30 to 1.30pm.
