A local family brand is representing local heritage in Aberdeen’s hotly anticipated new venue.

Luxury ice cream maker Mackie’s of Scotland has secured a contract with P&J Live, making sure that its much-loved Aberdeenshire ice cream is available for locals and tourists alike.

Stuart Common, sales director at Mackie’s, said: “We’re really excited to be a part of P&J Live’s offering.

“Mackie’s started as a small family business that went from strength to strength largely thanks to support from the local community, who got behind our product.

“The North East is part of our identity as a business, and as we continue to supply the market, we thought that this opportunity would be a perfect fit for us.

“Great things are happening in Aberdeen – plenty more people will be coming through into the city, and it’s exciting to know that we’ll not only be giving locals a taste of what they love, but introducing our fine Aberdeenshire product to visitors from much further afield.”

The P&J Live development boasts world-class conference and exhibition facilities for organisers and delegates across the globe.

The space will encompass three new hotels, good public transport connections and all will be sustainably powered by local renewable energy sources.

Stuart added: “P&J Live’s concentration on sustainable energy aligns well with our own.

“Making great use of the winds and the sunshine that we get on our farm, our ice cream is made with 70% renewable energy and so it’s fantastic to see others become increasingly dedicated to reducing their carbon footprint.”

Supplying P&J Live will be an addition to Mackie’s already extensive list of partners of including Edinburgh Zoo, Blair Drummond Safari Park, Balmoral Castle and The Hydro.

Mackie’s employs 80 people on its farm near Inverurie to make its well-loved ice cream and chocolate.

Louise Stewart, head of entertainment, exhibitions and marketing at P&J Live, said: “From the outset, P&J Live has been committed to supporting Aberdeen suppliers wherever possible and so it’s great to be offering visitors the chance to purchase a selection of their favourite Mackie’s treats at outlets throughout the centre.

“It’s great to be able to work with Mackie’s and have them support our ambitious new offering,” she added.
