New general manager appointed at Inverurie's Thainstone House
Crerar Hotels has announced the appointment of Scott McDonald as the new general manager of Thainstone House.
With more than 25 years’ hospitality industry experience, Scott has worked in a broad range of four- and five-star hotels across the UK and France, including the Queen Mary 2 – starting his career as a Commis de Rang in the Gleneagles Hotel.
On joining the team at Thainstone House in Inverurie, Scott’s first order of business was to ensure the safest possible environment for staff and guests in preparation for the re-opening on Monday this week – the key milestone date for the tourism industry within the Scottish Government’s road map out of lockdown.
He will also focus on maintaining the four-star destination’s reputation and luxury standards, including its 1 AA Rosette restaurant, ensuring guests a memorable experience when its doors re-open.
The hotelier said: “I am absolutely thrilled to join the team at Thainstone House as we prepare to welcome back guests at the end of April.
"It is a stunning property in a beautiful countryside setting, with an abundance of history – and part of an established luxury portfolio of hotels.
“My priorities will be working with the team to raise the already high standards at the hotel and ensuring our guests receive nothing less than the first-class experience Thainstone House is renowned for.”
Scott continued: "Whether they are staying with us for leisure, business, a spa day, dropping by for afternoon tea or a meal in our renowned Green Lady restaurant, we want every guest to feel special and will do all we can to ensure their every need is catered for.”
Chris Wayne-Wills, CEO, of the Crerar Hotel Group, said: “Scott is a fantastic addition to our business, and his many years of experience in the hospitality sector is great asset.
"As the industry begins to re-establish itself following the latest lockdown, I know Scott and his team in Inverurie will do a stellar job providing the exceptional service expected of our hotels.”
Thainstone House hotel is an 18th-century grand family mansion that has been transformed into a country house hotel.
