Celebration of success at school

Pupils at Meiklemill School were presented with various awards at a special assembly that was held at the end of term.

Craighall House with the Endeavour Shield

This is an eagerly awaited event and for the first time, P7 parents were invited along to share in the excitement of the celebration of successes across the school curriculum.

Many of the awards were presented by pupils to their fellow pupils in their school house groups or by our house and vice captains.

As well as Endeavour Points Champions, playground buddy awards, artist awards and Sporting Awards for children who showed outstanding sporting attitude, the following individual awards were given:

Ythan House with the Lunchtime Shield

Overall Girls’ Sports Champion: Lucy Whalley.

Overall Boys’ Sports Champion: Igor Lebiedzinski.

Athletic Endeavour Award: Sophie Gray.

Design Awards went to Fiona Cairney who designed the school values logo and to Natalie Cartney who designed Meiklemill’s new school mascot ‘Muckle Moo’.

Kayla Willox with the Outstanding House Captain award

The Commitment Award 2017 was shared by Hope Buchan and Aiden Smith.

Hope was given the award for her commitment to the school’s skipping endeavours and work as a vice captain of her house, while Aiden was recognised for his ICT knowledge and how he used it to support pupils and staff and his production of the school’s skipping video

The Outstanding House Captain award, as nominated by pupils in school, went to Kayla Willox.

Ythan House won the Sports Day trophy and the Lunchtime Shield, Esslemont House won the Potted Sports Shield and Craighall House won the Endeavour Points Shield and Throwing Events Shield.
