Staff and pupils at Ellon Academy are busily preparing for their much-anticipated Evening of Entertainment later this month.
The seventh annual event will be held on Friday, September 29, and is strongly supported by local businesses and community groups.
Tables are nearly sold out for the high-profile extravaganza which features top-class entertainment, a silent auction, food and drinks.
The main aim is to generate money for the school fund which supports many extra curricular activities. Last year just under £10,000 was raised.
A committee is hard at work to ensure the event goes without a hitch.
Committee chair Helen Campbell told the Times: “The Evening of Entertainment is unique in that it is organised and run by teaching and non-teaching staff, former and current pupils and parents.
“Several staff on the committee are former pupils themselves and also parents of current pupils. We are not aware of any other school running an event like this.
“It also brings together companies, businesses, traders, councillors, organisations and groups of friends - all with one purpose, to raise funds for our school.”
There is a change in sponsors for this year.
Helen said: “For the past six years we have been sponsored by Universal Inspection (UK) Limited and are indebted to Martyn Watts for the enormous support he has given to the school, which has put this event where it is today.
“This year we are delighted to announce and welcome the support of a new sponsor, combined local businesses under the chair of Adam Bruce - AB2000 Ltd, Ellon Plant Hire, Phoenix Weights Ltd and Phoenix Marine Solutions Ltd.
“All four businesses have attended the Evening of Entertainment on a number of occasions and are familiar with the high standards we achieve.”
The new sponsor of the reception drink and canapes is Michael Gall Transport, which takes over from Muro Testing and Certification UK.
