MSP for Aberdeenshire East, Gillian Martin, has congratulated school pupils whose pictures were chosen to feature in the 2017 Scarf calendar.

Drawings by Libby Massie of Easterfield School, Fortrie and Kayla Smith of Slains School near Collieston will feature in months of January and February respectively.

The girls were among the winners to receive awards at a ceremony in the Scottish Parliament on the afternoon of Thursday, December 1.

Scarf is a social enterprise, headquartered in Aberdeen, which has at its core the aim of eradicating fuel poverty.

The competition was opened to both primary and secondary school pupils in Aberdeen, Aberdeenshire, Angus, Dundee, Fife, Moray and Perth & Kinross.

Pupils were encouraged to submit full colour drawings to demonstrate ways to save energy at home and their awareness of gas safety.

Ms Martin said: “It was great to be able to welcome Libby and Kayla to Holyrood and congratulate them on their success.

“With children from so many areas of Scotland taking part I’m delighted that entries of two girls from schools in my constituency were chosen.”
