THE biggest outdoor leisure event in the North-east returns on Friday, June 21, with even more on offer to help people enjoy life in the open-air.
The Scottish Caravan and Camping Show, featuring the Grampian Outdoor Leisure Show, will celebrate its third year on Friday and Saturday at the Thainstone Centre, Inverurie.
Everything from a humble tent peg to a luxury holiday lodge will be on show including a huge selection of touring and static caravans, motorhomes and lodges. The first exhibitors began to arrive on Monday to put together some of the holiday homes on display.
This year’s event, organised by the ANM Group, has been moved back by a week this year to allow two full days of exhibiting and tomorrow’s visitors will be able to attend from 9am to 9pm.
That change has resulted in a new additional sponsor in Craigdon Mountain Sports, who will be the official tents sponsor and joins Dyce Caravans, who are the main show sponsors.
Craigdon is a hugely successful Inverurie-based family business which has become one of the biggest names in the UK outdoor leisure industry.
John Gregor of the ANM Group show team said: “It is a great coup for us to bring aboard such a major player in the outdoor leisure business and I know Craigdon will add something special to the show.”
Once again, the main show sponsor will be Dyce Caravans, the family-business that has grown into one of Scotland’s leading caravan and motorhome dealer with almost 30-years of experience.
Ken Cumming of Dyce Caravans said: “We always look forward to this show because we always get such a great response from the visitors and we will have an excellent line-up for them again this year.”
He added: “There are lots of new developments to see in caravans and we will also have a wonderful display of the latest models in motorhomes at the show.”
There will also be a superb indoor display of caravan and camping accessories from Borders Leisure, one of the best known names in the UK market while Malcolm Gordon of Turriff Caravans will be on hand with servicing advice, equipment and special offers.
Visitors will also be able to win some excellent show prizes including a Camos PAPSO portable satellite dish worth £700 which will allow you to watch your favourite TV shows, or a three-man Vango Airbeam Genesis 300 tent worth £400.
The show organisers are trying a change of tack this year over campsite accommodation in a bid to bring in more overnight visitors. There will be a free campsite at the showground with a chemical disposal point but no other facilities.
Toilet blocks are available in the showground and pitches will be offered on a first-come, first served basis. John Gregor explained: “This year we are going right back to basics but this time offering free pitches. Those who used the campsite during the last two shows were delighted with the location but seemed happier to use their own facilities instead.”
