A NEW decking area at Ellon Respite Centre has been officially opened. The £5,000 project was marked with a ceremony on Sunday.
The centre is run on behalf of Aberdeenshire Council by the charity Aspire and many of those who attend are wheelchair users.
It was felt there was a need for a garden area suitable for safe recreation and relaxation for residents and Ellon Rotarian David Presly, whose grandson attends the centre, organised a fundraising celidh which gathered around £2,000. The Clydesdale Bank had raised and allocated funds of £3,000 through staff initiatives and they were delighted to collaborate with the Rotary.
Local architects, contractors, and suppliers allowed plans to be prepared, planning permission to be obtained, trees to be removed, excavations and concrete work to be done, at little or no cost to the project.
