Fyvie Scouts make appeal

AN URGENT appeal for new leaders has been launched by Fyvie Scout Group.

Officials have warned they may have to cut back on activities unless they can recruit more adults. The group currently has 30 Scouts, 20 Cubs and around 10 Beavers.

Assistant Group Scout leader Russell Quinlan told the Times: “We are in desperate need of new leaders and adult helpers for Beavers, Cubs and Scouts.

“It’s got to a really desperate stage now. We do have a lot of youth members, but we are going to have to cut back on what activities we can do with them, unless we get more adults involved.”

Mr Quinlan, who is also cub leader, said he is planning to hold a presentation evening in Fyvie School or Woodhead Community Centre.

He added: “The idea is not only introduce what each section does, but also to recruit new adults, and youngsters if possible. We will be putting posters around Fyvie and other villages advertising the date and venue once it has been arranged.”
