PREPARATIONS are well under way for the latest production by the Garioch Youth Musical Society, “13”, which will staged over two nights at Inverurie Town Hall.
“13” is a high-energy show which tells the story of Evan Goldman who moves to a new school in the Midwest just before his 13th birthday, charting his efforts to make an impression on his classmates, his struggle to be part of the “in-crowd”, becoming a man, and his discovery that “cool” can be found where you want it.
The musical enjoyed a successful run on Broadway in 2008, running for 105 performances, and winning award nominations. Director Jessica Stuart said, “This is shaping up to be a great event. “13” features cheerleaders, nerds and romance. The young cast is working hard and enjoying the catchy songs and dance routines.” The Garioch Youth Musical Society company is made up of people aged 10 to 17 from the Garioch area, from Alford to Oldmeldrum.
“13” will be showing at 7.30pm on Friday, February 22, and Saturday, February 23 at Inverurie Town Hall. Tickets are available online at www.inverurieboxoffice.co.uk
