Awards for ‘inspirational stars’ in Aberdeenshire

An awards ceremony was held recently by Aberdeenshire Council to celebrate the achievements and successes of communities, staff and young people across the region.

Inspiring Aberdeenshire was marked by a civic reception at Haddo House where nominees were up for 12 awards including ‘Best of’ honours for Banff and Buchan, Buchan, Formartine, Garioch, Kincardine and Mearns, and Marr - the six areas that make up Aberdeenshire.

During the evening there was a series of performances from pupils representing schools across the area, including New Deer Primary School Choir, Westhill Academy Ceilidh Band and a dance performance from Hip Hop School Scotland.

The Best of Formartine Award was won by Sally Sheehan, from the Ythan Centre in Ellon.

Sally was described as a “tireless individual” supporting families in the Formartine area and throughout Aberdeenshire.

Manager of Childcare@home, Maureen Rennie, said of her: “Aberdeenshire Council has a real star in their midst.

“She really is a shining example of a great worker who works hard to encourage good networking, supporting families and believes in sharing good practice to make Aberdeenshire a better place to live.”
